What to look out for in terms of the piercing
- The piercing is getting pierced through a thick piecing of you cartridge, so it's bound to hurt.
- I can't say this enough, but be sure you want this piercing. you'll be stuck to it forever and have to care for it until it heals.
- There is a healing process, but sure to know what this involves.
- You may bet nervous when you are at the piecing shop, but the pain you think you are going to experience it between your ears. It doesn't hurt as much as having a limb severed, trust me. I know.
- If it's cold outside, put something over your piercing. It hurts a lot if you don't.
What to look out for in terms of the piercing shop:
- Look around the shop. If it feels uncomfortable to you, leave
- Look at the people, what do they look like? Do they have a lot of piercings or only a couple. Look at those piercings. Are they in the right places are the some people that seem to have an infection? If they do go to a different shop.
- Find a shop that is trustworthy. How you do this is ask your friends and family. Search on the internet for forums on them. research is important.
What to look out for in terms of the piercer:
- You have to feel comfortable around the piercer. If he tries to make you scared, he's not trustworthy.
- The piercer should prepare you in very way. Ask you about what you know about the piercing. Tell you how to treat it.
- He should have a portfolio, you can ask for this.
- When goes to pierce your ear look at the chair. what kind a material is it made from? Leather or normal cloth? if it's cloth then this piercer is unhygienic.
- He should ask you what kind of jewelry you want. A stud, barbell or ring. Also what kind of length you want.
- The piercer should have all the equipment sterilized and covered. He should uncover and place all the items in front of you and wash his hands. He has to clean your ear and not touch it again, unless he is piercing it
- Gloves are essential.
If any of the above are not present you should leave and go to a different shop. This is your body you are piecing and you should do it the right way.
Also if the piercer is reluctant to show or tell you anything you ask for just leave.
